Eye Health

We need to take care of our whole body, not only some parts of it. All of our organs are important, and they need to be treated properly, in order to remain healthy and work properly. One of our vital organs is our eye. There are many dangers that can cause great damage to our eyes. That is why proper treatment is needed to keep them healthy. We often do not have enough time to lead a healthy lifestyle, but we should seriously consider that if we want to protect ourselves.

There are no special treatments, medicines and supplements needed to keep our eyes healthy. We just need to know what to eat and how to take good care of them. Our eating habits influence in a major way our sight and eye health.

Just as any other organs our eyes also need all the important vitamins, minerals and nutrients. All of these can be found in different food types, so a balanced diet can give our eyes the needed care and protection. Eating lots of fruits and vegetables can help our body to get all the necessary A, B, C and E vitamins. It is proven that vitamins and minerals are beneficial in fighting diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and cataracts.

‘Xerophthalmia’, an eye condition that can lead to blindness, can be prevented by eating fresh vegetables, fat and proteins. Vitamin A and C work as important anti-oxidants, which help in the maintenance of healthy eye tissues and cells. These vitamins can be found in fruits and vegetables such as cabbage, tomato, salad, green beans, citrus fruits, berries, carrots, peppers. By eating eggs, fish, dairy foods, grains, seeds and meat you can give your body and eyes the needed amount of proteins, which can prevent the apparition of cataracts or macular degeneration.

Lutein and Zeaxanthin are those types of antioxidants found in vegetables and fruits, which can prevent the appearance of macular degeneration or cataracts. As you can see there are no special treatments, contact lenses or diet programs needed to keep your eyes healthy. You just have to eat those basic food types which can give you the needed nutrients, vitamins and minerals in order to keep your eyes healthy and in a good shape.
